What is an adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment or spinal manipulation is a safe and effective form of treatment. It is a highly skilled and specific force applied to a joint to restore full range of motion. The ‘popping’ or ‘cracking’ sound that you hear is gas being released from the joint. Not all treatments involve adjustments. The proper intervention for each patient will be discussed prior to treatment.

How long are appointments?

An Initial assessment and treatment typically takes 30-40 minutes. A subsequent appointment will take between 10-20 minutes depending on the technique(s) being used.

What should I wear to a chiropractic appointment?

It is a good idea to wear something that you can move in and something that allows the practitioner to access the area being treated. For example, wear shorts for a knee injury or something sleeveless for a shoulder injury.

Do you offer direct billing?

This office does not currently offer direct billing. You will be provided with a detailed receipt after each appointment that you will be able to submit to your insurer for reimbursement.

What forms of payment are accepted?

This office currently accepts debit, credit and cash. Van Heck Chiropractic and Rehabilitation is not currently accepting WSIB or Motor Vehicle Accident insurance patients.

Will I need X-rays?

Most patients do not require X-rays before starting treatment. If it is decided that you do need X-rays, you will be referred to the appropriate provider.

How long will I need to go to the chiropractor?

The length of each treatment plan varies depending on the severity or duration of symptoms. You can continue seeing a chiropractor as long as you are seeing the benefits of treatment. There are no long term treatment plans or contracts and you can discontinue care at any time.

Do I need to wear a mask?

Patients are no longer required to wear a face mask in chiropractic clinics. Dr. Van Heck will continue to wear one for the time being and you are, of course, welcome to continue wearing one if it makes you feel more comfortable.
